You must file a tax return in order to get the rebate. I had a tax return today that flagged me to file it even though the taxpayer had no tax. In order for seniors and people with children to get the rebate, a return must be filed, even at zero. The low income rebate does not require taxes to be paid or withheld from a filer. |

Anyone who doesn't file a tax return won't get a rebate check.
Even if someone files, they don't get a check unless they have at least $3000 of eligible income. |

No filing, no rebate. File 1040A Stimulus if you have income enough to qualify for rebate. If your only income is SSI, welfare or section 8 or medicaid, no eligibility. You need W-2 income and/or social security or VA disability. |

you have to file taxes to get it. as long as you can show 3000, you're eligible |

You DO have to file an income tax return to get a rebate check. The key is that people who have low income and don't have to PAY any taxes also get these checks. In other words, their income is so low that they are not legally required to pay the government anything.
If you file, you get a check. It's as easy as that! |

File your taxes anyways. You will get $300 if you are on a fixed income- (SSI or disability). Most states have free tax "clinics" that will do your taxes for free. You can also file for free on the IRS website- IRS.gov. |

they dont: sometimes companies you work for do it for you, happens alot in retail, but sometimes it doesnt happen and you loose money.
I lost £100 to tax I should have ahd back while working in marks and spencers when I was 18, by the time I found out about what tax and a rebate were it was too late to claim.
I joined River Island and only after 2 years did I catch on to the fact the owed me tax, I claimed it back asap.
I now work for arcadia, people tell me the they are used to the tax office writing to them as arcadia tell the tax office what is going on. Seems not all companies do this.
If you think your on the wrong tax code/being unfairly taxed then contact your local tax office: the number and address should be in your staff handbook or contract, your tax code will be on your payslip.
At the end of each financial year they will bill you/send you a cheque accordingly. |
