How do the rich people avoid paying taxes, in general ? What about business taxes ? ?

I guess you're poor but that is so untrue. We don't avoid paying taxes (in fact we pay MORE taxes because we're in a higher income bracket). The difference is that we tend to be smarter with our expenditures so while we may spend our money, we still know how to make our money work for us. Poor people haven't seemed to master that yet...

Rich people in general DON'T avoid paying taxes. The top 20% of earners pay around 88% of the taxes collected. The top 1% pay over 1/3 of the taxes collected.

bostonianinmo
Where do you get the idea that the wealthy don't pay taxes?? That's FALSE. The top 10% of all earners in the US pay more than 75% of ALL taxes.

Physics Student
Rich people pay a higher percent than poor people do. The average family pays 10-15% of their income to taxes. People that make $350,000 and over pay 35%. know what that means? Rich people get hit twice as hard. That's just income tax, not to mention business taxes, capital gains, personal property. Any write-offs don't make up for the fact that the rich pay more than TWICE the percent you have to pay.

If you want everyone to pay the same amount of taxes, rich people would be first in line behind you.

Not all of hem avoid taxes, and some that do are "dodging" taxes they should be paying.

But in general, they are being advised to keep their money active, in investments -- either in their own company or others. If there are losses on those investments, they they write off the loss. With the exception of sales tax, mostly you are taxed on money you take OUT of circulation.

handsofgold79
they might avoid it for sometime until the mighty IRS finds them. You can't hid from the IRS! Look at Wesly Snipes he got caught last year and might have to do jail time!

pechinrules
Arent there alot of wealthy people in government and they make the laws that they can break or find the loopholes to avoid paying taxes and then they tell their rich buddies to do the same? Isnt that why the market crashed just before the election? Coincidence?

they own a buissness and they deduct every thin they buy from there companys expenses. that also makes it seem like they make less money
