How do you figure it out a sale tax of 6% from my subtotal of $16?

Multiply $16 by 6% and divide by 100. 16*6/100=96cents

Seriously, if you really need to know this its 16 x 6%.

urkrazee
$16 multiplied by .06 (6%)= 0.96, which means you would pay $16.96

enduraman
Multiply 16 X .06= $ .96

change the 6% to a decimal (.06) and multiply it by ur subtotal.

Daniel G
16 X 1.06 = 16.96

that would make 6% $0.96!

Multiply the two numbers together: .06 x 16=.96.The sales tax will be 96 cents.

$16 x 1.06 will give you your total.

organicchem
6% = 6/100 = .06
To find the sales tax you muliply .06 with $16.
0.06*16 = .96
That means you will have to pay 96 cents of sales tax on a $16 purchase.
Your total is $16+$.96 = $16.96

The Fluff
Add 6 cents per dollar, or, .06 x 16

Not sure if you're asking what the sales tax amount would be on $16 or how do you figure out what the sales tax amount would be if your total bill was $16.

If your subtotal was $16 then 6% sales tax would be 96 cents.

If this is a math problem and you want to know what the sales tax was if your TOTAL was $16 then the equation is this:
16 = x + (x*.06) or 16 = x + .06x or 16 = x (1 + .06) or 16 = x(1.06) then you divide 16 by 1.06 to get the subtotal (x) which in this case is 15.09434.

you divide 16 by .94 (100% less 6%) and it gives you the total sale of $17.02 and a tax of 6% of $1.02 for a net sale of $16.02

Stuart
multiply the subtotal by .06

$16.00 x .06 = .96 tax

$16.96 total

Another way to do it is to remember that 6% of 100 is 6. So, 6% of a dollar is 6 cents. And 6 cents times 16 dollars is 96 cents.

Multiply 16 times .06. That is the tax. Add it to the $16 to see the amount you have to pay.

Rolf
Multiply by 0.06... and sum to your subtotal of 16

Or direclty multiply to 1.06 and that is your total...
16.96 is yout total.

vpsinbad50
6 x $16.00 = $.93 cents

take 0.06 times 16. or do this, 1% of 16 is 0.16, and 6 times that is what? 0.96, so there you go

PieBob

Subtotal$16=$16.00
$16.00/100=$0.16*6=$0.96Tax
Subtotal$16.00+$0.96Tax=$16.96TOTAL
