How does the United States pay for things? What are the technical details?
The United States doesn't have a 'bank account' so how does this work exactly. All checks from the United States government are from the Department of the Treasury, correct? And when that check is deposited in a bank, then how exactly does the bank increase that person's account without debiting the United States government account (of which there is none)? Basically I'd like to orient myself to the 21st century method of payments between the government and its people.

Money used to be based on American Gold Reserves. Meaning, your bill was worth "one dollar worth of gold". You might've heard of Fort Knox...thats where they kept it.

Nowadays, the world is more streamlined, and monetary value is more a "concept". While most currency is still backed by material goods like gold, alot of it is sort of it's own entity....no real value, but still considered "valuable" because others want it.

It is a fascinating concept.

Hmmmm, I think the Federal Reserve System controls everything.
They have all the money.
Money goes in and out from here.

Learn about the Federal Reserve. They make up money out of thin air. I love this question because it is a very smart thing to ask.

We are told that the Federal Reserve is restricted by the government> This is not the whole truth. If it were then who are the members of this bank and why is it a PRIVATE BANK. The Federal Reserve is not Federal at all, just like the Federal Express mail. Who are these people who own majority shares?

I wish I could explain more than this but just look for the movie "The money masters." It will start you on your way.

Then go to

That site has a great insight for your question.

GREAT QUESTION... life changing event question if you are smart enough to figure out the REAL answer.

The US pays for things with our own money, which is collected through bills and taxes.

borat
Our tax money and money they borrow from the federal reserve. Either way, we lose money.

Borrowing from the federal reserve causes inflation.
