How long after getting a job are your W2's recorded by the government?

Ms. Angel..
The employers sends them to IRS; but IRS doesn't have them available until After August or after of each year. So if you need your W2 information you can't request it from IRS until then. IF you need the information for school or loan, download Form 4506-T and request the transcript of your filed tax return.

W-2's don't come out until the end of the year.

W2s , your year end earnings statements are filed with the IRS prior to the January 31st deadline of the year after the wages were paid. So wages earned in 2007 are reflected on W2 statements which are in the hands of the IRS Jan.31, 2008.

record of your employ begins immediately upon starting the job.

W-2s are mailed to the Social Security Administration by February 28, or E-filed by April 1. The SSA will give detailed information by July of the the following year. I believe the IRS says they'll send you copies of the W-2s after the beginning of the following year, but that may just include those filed with the IRS.

They will be posted to your Social Security account during the summer after the end of the tax year.

If you mean the federal government, the W-2 information is sent to the Social Security Administration by the last day of February of the following year. SSA then sends the information to IRS. It takes quite awhile for IRS to process that information and be able to provide it back to you, though that time has shortened in the last few years.

w-2`s are only reported if you file them other wise they go off you ss#
