don't think it matters how long you are in hospital , as far as your pension is concerned, but i think if you get a top up of income support i think it's 10 weeks, hope someone know better as I'm really not sure..

I think it is for 3 weeks.

Old age pension is yours till you die. Someone may have to collect the pension for you while you are in hospital . There is a form which you fill in to appoint an agent to collect your pension for you. Check out with your local social welfare/pensions office.(if you are in a nursing home they may collect this as part payment for your care) .

I always thought u couldn't get it at all whilst in hospital, I'm sure my Mum didn't get hers when she went in for an op.

If you are receiving a National Insurance Pension or Non-Contributory Pension, you must tell the Department of Social Security about your admission to hospital. According to http://www.northdevonhealth.nhs.uk/patientinformation/hospitals/ilfracombe_tyrrell.htm

Also see http://www.ipswichhospital.org.uk/shared/documents/dwp_gl12.pdf This is a booklet from the dept for work and pensions.

UK state retirement pension will be paid regardless of where you are or for how long you are there for. This includes stays in hospital and even living abroad

There are Some benefits are affected by stays in hospital but not state retirement pension.
