If the person is in a regular job not self employed etc. Ex will not pay so curious and I do work. All these people who claim lazy so and so claiming csa, it is a private claim, my baby is under 3 months and in nursery cause I have to work to pay for baby, thank you.

To help with the application give as much information as you can. I would also ring once a week to ask how your case is going. If a case officer has a client that rings every week they are more likely to prioritise your case as opposed to someone who doesn't bother. If your ex is in full time employment and as long as he isn't a job-hopper then I estimate that you should get your first payment in about three months. If he decides not to pay the agency will have to impose a Deduction from Earnings and this can take about two months to set up. If you have any questions talk to your case officer. You should have a named person dealing with your case.
It has only been recently that the CSA has published guidelines about what timescales to expect with applications to clients. Check out the link below for the timescales |

It can take months just for them to process the claim. They generally write and ask him to make the payments himself first- they don't just usually dive in and take money from his wages. He is then given chance to pay you himself- if he doesn't pay then you have to chase them again and then they have to chase him again- sorry pet but they can take ages!! I was on benefits and so was my ex and it still took them two years to decide that i had to pay for my son! And they had all the money first in the first place- they don't know what they are doing half the time. My sisters husband was chased for ages then they asked him to pay- he didn't- my sister chased them then they chased him again- when he got a job he said he didn't earn enough so they let it drop!! Its complicated. |

the csa will do nothing unless you ring them and bug them to bug your ex.then they can only pay you money if he pays them.when you are on benefits you get money from the government even if he dosnt pay and if he does you only get an extra tenner on top of what they give you.on income support you will get aroun £120 a week inc child ben plus council tax and housing benefit which covers most if not all of your rent.when your child is 3 years old they get free part time nursery.im not saying its better to be on benefits as its obviously not,working is good for you.but the csa cant actually take his money,he has to give it to them.they can ask for it but theres nothing else they can do at the moment.the system is changing at the moment tho so in the next year or so non payers can get into quite seriouse trouble.i think you should contact your local jobcentre cos if you are on a low income you may still be entitled to some help with childcare costs,rent etc.every little helps!i know as im in similar situation!good luck. |

When you claim CSA they should issue form asking his details etc so can make a decision, they usually give him 13wk to respond, should then issue reminder again giving approx 13 wk. If still no response & you have informed them of where he works they can approach employer to look at attachment to earnings.
In this time they will make an estimated assessment which can be very high until he provides the information they require & deduct this from his wages.
OK so thats the straight forward way but what will happen is, they won't issue the initial form unless you ring every wk to make sure they have. They won't chase up after 13wks after issue unless you ring up every wk & check. They won't apply for attachment to earnings unless you push em.
CSA doesn't work everybody knows this but it doesn't help when the government start to reduce staff from local & processing services in a cost cutting exercise, so we end up with massive backlogs, paperwork not followed up & wrong calculations.
My advice make the initial contact to start process when you return your form a wk later contact to make sure they've got it & when they'll be sending out form to him, keeping checking for when form will be issued cos your 13 wks don't start until that date, then contact your MP.
I do not deal directly anymore with CSA, MP keeps tabs on them. I get letters every month with updates & CSA also ring me now to keep me informed cos I've received such a crap service from them.
All gonna change soon anyway so fingers crossed....good luck |

if they are on the babys birth certificate then about 3 months basically if you know where he works give them all that info and as soon as they have all his wages info they will do a calculation of what he should pay, then they will ask him to pay it within 28days if e doesnt it goes right out of his wages, if hes not on cert it can take quite a bit longer, it depends if hes asking for a dna test or not. (quite a few men do this to stall) but all pay is back dated anyway, it can be quite long and drawn out. get on the phone to them once a week asking for updates as my mates stayed in a file for 12 months before they even started on it and tat was only because she was calling all the time demanding to know what was going on, eventually she got £33 a week and that was his pay at aprox £13,000pa i think it takes time but its worth it, why should you have to do it on your own? good luck :) |
