This is clearly a UK taxes question, although some US answers have had a stab at it!
Do you mean that you have made a repayment claim to HMRC? If so, did you write Repayment Claim very largely at the top? I think it sepends on how busy your tax office is, although they should deal with within 30 days. Suggest that if you hear nothing by the end on Jan, you ring them to find out what progress is.

Tax return? From what year? You can't file 07 until January 1st, 2008? And it depends if you filed it through the mail or electronically. Electronically about 10-14 days. Through the mail and filed early (I don't know about this early) 3-4 weeks. |

Ah fengirl, ever the optimist!
With Xmas post, HMRC ewill get it around about 25th.
They'll look at it sometime in very late Janaury, and process it sometime in February.
If you're unlucky you'll be one of the 16% who have to wait more than three months. (HMRC report 2007) |

Well considering you can't officially file until Jan 1, I would say that it would take til end of Jan 08 |

You pretty much have control of that, the longer you wait the more you get. You could have gotten your federal taxes back as soon as you filed if you got it done at a tax office but of course they would have charged you for it, but other than that it will take about 2 weeks for your federal, and 2 and a half to 3 weeks for your state. |

Since you're getting it in very early my best estimate would be 3-4 weeks from now. That's good time as it's usually 6 weeks or even later as the tax season rolls on. Start counting the days. |
