The stimulus check is pretty much an "I'm sorry" from the government for the higher prices on everything. When the government decided to give rebate checks to everyone, it caused the oil prices to go higher, while making our currency weaker in all other markets..
So while it may appear great on the surface we are getting extra money, it will actually cost us more in the long run --- i.e. $3.50 - $4 gas this summer.. If they would not have done this, we would have saw our gas price fall by 25 cents if not more a gallon.. |

No. And I won't, either. I don't believe in the government giving out money from the general fund when there's a fiscal crisis and infrastructure is underfunded and collapsing. It will all have to be paid back with huge interest in time. They are buying favor at election time, not solving any problems.
This morning on NPR, they said the recent interest cuts have already hurt the US dollar abroad -- a Euro now costs $1.50 American. The United States is spiraling down the sewer, and a rebate check is a band aid at best.

You will be suprised how many clients that I have prepared their return, and are telling me what they plan on buying with their checks. I have not heard of anyone actually buying anything before they get the money. |

Nope. I'm not planning to, either. I'm going to pay down existing debt, like most people. It's not going to stimulate the economy...that just shows how far away from real life our lawmakers have gotten. |
