Champagne 7 SUSPENDED AGAIN
Depends on what JSA you're claiming, if worked & paid contributions your JSA will be JSA(C) & your savings won't be taken into account

If claiming JSA(IB) then anything over £3k & you lose £1 for every £250, £8k or over then no entitlement

There are two types of Job seekers Allowance, one income based (similar to income support) : you can claim this if your capital is below £6000 : higher than that will reduce the benefit: as will any other income, part time working, pension etc. £16,000 in capital means you probably won't get anything. The other type of Job seekers Allowance is contribution based. You could get this for up to 6 months, if your national insurance contributions are up to date. As far as I remember, for contributions based, capital doesn't affect this benefit.

I think you can have a maximum of £3000 savings. Anything above that and your benefit will be reduced. You should be entitled to something though. Am not sure exactly how much.

jujuberrii@rocketmail.com
you should get around £80 a fortnight...

Dazcouz
Off the top of my head I think it's £10,000? Check the JSA wevsite.

your allowed up to £16,000 in savings. last i knew job seekers no longer exists (unless your already on it) there is whats called employment assistance credit or something like that. anyway contact your local job centre for more info. youll need to provide bank statements so they will know if youve had savings then they suddenly disappear. you may be entitled to contributions based benefits which goes off your national insurance contributions and you dont need to show any savings you have

For Job Seekers Allowance there is no limit and it is not means tested. If you are looking for other benefits while unemployed then you will have to declare all savings above £8500.
