How much is 57.98 $ plus tax?
the tax in my location is provincial=8% federal=6%
That would depend if both taxes are based on the 57.98 or if one tax is added, and then the other tax is on that new total.
All you have to do is multiply
57.98 x 1.14
Here's why.
Add 8% (.08) to 6% (.06) to get 14% (.14)
By multiplying it by 1.14 you are adding the 14% tax to the 57.98.
You must add the 1, because if you multiply by a fraction, your answer will be less than one, and you know that cannot be correct. (If any number times 1 is that same number, then any number times less than 1 will be less than the original number)
So, if you want ONLY the amount of the tax you will multiply 57.98 x .14 (that will give you the amount of tax)
Then you would have to add that to 57.98 to get your total.
By putting the 1 in front and making it 1.14, you are skipping a step and getting the total in one step.

You can't punch in 57.98 x 1.14 into a calculator? wow...lazy. Anyways here's your answer. 66.0972. So 66.10 to be safe.
Blondie
Almost $67.
Another Hockey Player
66.09
OP
$66.10 total. $4.64 provincial (@8%) and 3.48 federal (@6%).
AlexS
8%+6%=14%
$57.98*1.14=$67.10 if rounded to the next dollar
This can all be done on a stinkin calculator. Can't you do it yourself?
