The best answer I could give is to try more than one program and put everything in the same and see if one is better than the other, I used TURBOTAX and didn't like the results, so I tried www.taxslayer.com (got it from the irs.gov website) and my refund was much more, it doesn't cost anything to try it, plug in all your information online and it will tell you what your expected refund will be, then if you like it, pay the $9.95 fee and file electronically. Hope this helps |

There is no "typical" refund. Everyone's situation is different. |

did you include the items from your settlement statement as well. You need a professional this year as the interest deduction for you is large
Seek help from a cpa and yes it cost more but well worth it |

There is no "typical" refund. The average refund last year for all taxpayers was around $2,600 or so but that is a meaningless statistic as far as your individual situation is concerned. Just as meaningless is what you got last year. You cannot compare one tax year to another any more than you can compare your refund with mine. |

There is no "typical" refund amount. Every situation is different and no two filers are alike. People think that if their co-worker makes the same they should get the same refund. That is not true. There are many variables including withholdings, investments, mortgage interest, contributions....there are too many to name.
When filing be sure to use the itemized deductions. Include: mortgage interest, points on settlement sheet, personal property taxes, if applicable, state income taxes, Real Estate taxes, charitable contributions both cash and non-cash, medical (though most people don't get this deduction since you need so much), job related expenses. Good Luck. Turbo Tax is pretty good, just use the tutorial version so that the program will ask you questions that may or may not apply to your situation. |

Hi my name is Linda & I work for H & R Block.
There is no typical refund. It all depends on your withholdings on your paycheck, number of people on the tax return, deductions for your house , charities and many others and depends on any other credits that may come in to play on your tax return.

i think the average refund for the whole country is about 2.5k.
but you have a dependent and a house, etc.. so your will pry be more, depending on how much you paid in of course |

$ 2,000 +/- . There are way too many variables to go into , but I would say 2-3k is average . |
