I would need to know how many hours you work and if this job was for the entire year. Some guide lines for you are: do you live with your parents or someone who can claim you on their tax return? If so, you would have to file if you made more than $5450. Also the standard deduction is $3500 for 2008, so if no one claims you filing would be required if you made over $8950. If you are not required to file you will want to file if you had Federal Tax withheld so you can get a refund of that money.
This advise was prepared based on our understanding of the tax law if effect at the time it was written as it applies to the facts that you provided. Click on my profile to read more. |

If you earn more than $600 in a year, you need to file.
The limit may have been increased a little. It may be
$650 or so. |

If you are under 19 or under 24 and a full time college student then you can have your parents elect to include your income on their tax return. It's on a form 8814
If you're single and under age 65 you must make a gross income of 8950 in order to be required to file a tax return. Gross income is income from whatever source derived.
If you're a dependent (1) under age 18, 2) pay less than 1/2 your support 3) Don't file a joint return, 4) Your principal residence is your guardians house, 5) U.S. resident - then ---> You must file a return if either 1) Unearned income is over 900 or 2) earned income is over 5450 or 3) your gross income was more than the larger of 900 or your earned income (up to 5150) + 300 |

You don't HAVE to file unless you make a certain amount a year. But if you are given the option to file or not file, then you are probably in the range in which you don't owe anything back. Which means you will be able to get back all of the federal and state taxes that have been taken out over the year. And it is always nice to have some extra money. |

File taxes, yes.
Pay taxes, probably not... depends on how much you made.
You probably had some money taken out of your 3.25 hr paycheck. If you file, you'll probably get most of that money back. |

Now that Obama is going to take office if you find a dime on the sidewalk you will have to pay taxes on it.
In all seriousness YES you have to file taxes. Whether or not you pay is another story. I would call an accountant and find out what the requirements are in your particular case. |

YES. You must provide your hourly wage and your tips. Especially if they keep track of your tips. If they don't report your tips...well then you could not report them, but you'll get in trouble with the IRS if they audit you. |

Yes, if you work and taxes are taken from your pay you need to file taxes. Anything you earn should be filed. |
