There are specific rules for claiming dependents. There is no limit to the number of dependents you can claim if you meet those rules for each of them. For your gf and parents, you'd have to provide over half of their support for he year, and any one of them that you claim couldn't have had over $3500 gross income of their own for the year. To claim your gf, there are additional rules also.
If your child lives with you for over half the year, you very likely can claim her if her mom doesn't - If the child doesn't live with you, probably not.
For your niece, that's more complicated - you don't say where her parents are or where she lived, so it's hard to say. There are a number of rules you'd have to meet.
At a guess, no you probably can't claim all of them. |

Need more details to see who you can claim out of that group.
There are two categories, qualifying child and qualifying relative. You kid may fall into the qualifying child category. The rest, if they can be claimed, are qualifying relatives.
For qualifying relative, you can claim if
1 cannot be a qualifying child of anyone else
2 Related to you OR live with you all the year
3 gross income less than $3500
4 must provide more than half of the person's total support
For your kid, you go by qualifying child rules
1 you kid (grandkid, etc)
2 under 19, or under 24 and a full time student
3 lived with you more than half the year
4 must provide more than 1/2 total support
5 there are "tiebreaker" rules if the kid quailfies for more than one person.
Need all of the above information to determine. |

If you provide more than half the support for all those people then yes, but it has to be half or more. |

If they meet all the criteria for dependents. If they do not and you claim them the IRS will surely check. |

Yes and be very careful of the whole age thing with kids. My step's mother is greedy and my step makes 12k per year and is 20. And is not in school. Well my step wants to attend college and wants grants and all cuz she doesn't want loans. Her mother nor I will pay for college for her. No one paid for ours. I had to do it myself. Still paying on loans. Anyway.....we told her in 8th grade work hard on grades and you can apply for scholarships but she choose not to and thus graduated with 2.1gpa. So I told her you need to go live with grandma and get out of mom's house so you can be deemed independant student, file own taxes so you can get aide. Her mother choose to file her on her taxes anyway and now is being audited cuz the govt said the kid made 12k in 2007 and is 20. So her mother is freakin. I warned her mother to be careful when filing taxes cuz there are tons of rules and regulations and she will get audited if they see something out of place. So be very careful with this whole thing on who lives with you, who you support and claiming them cuz it can come back to bite you. Of course we could all just move to Belize and not have to worry about this whole taxation without representation. Govt doesn't represent us in the least so I can't figure out why we all don't boycott and overthrow our corrupt govt!!!! |

You can't claim a girlfriend but you can claim the rest if you are supporting them and they do not file their own returns. |

Only if you are providing for them, they are living with you, and you are not charging them rent.
And, as long as they are not claiming themselves, and no one else is claiming them..... for example - your girlfriends parents claiming her or your nieces parents claiming her.... |

Are you providing more than half of the financial support for all these people? Do they live with you? Do they not have income of their own? |
