It depends on where you're from. If you include PST, which is provincial tax, it differs in each province. In Ontario, with both PST (8%) and GST (5%) tax is 13%.
So 13% on an $80 product is $90.40
(80 [the price of the product] x .13 [percentage of tax])
= $10.4 [tax of the product] + $80 [the cost of the product]
= $90.4 [the total]
PST rates:
British Columbia 7%
Alberta 0%
Saskatchewan 5%
Manitoba 7%
Ontario 8%
Quebec 7.5%
Prince Edward Island 10%
Nova Scotia/New Brunswick/Newfoundland have this weird thing called HST (instead of PST & GST) which is 13% |

Basic math skills.
$80.00 x .7% = $5.60
$80.00 x .8% = $6.40
$80.00 $12.00
$80 + $12 = $92
Remember, though, some things are tax exempt, some have only PST, others GST or some combinaiton of both taxes. |
