How much taxes on my salary ?
I'm in touch with a company in London which proposes me the salary of £1315 a month. I'd like to know how much it represents after taxes ?
And is it a good salary to live in London ?
Thanx.
Additional Details
OK guys, but if I take a room in a sharehouse, can I survive ?

God, I'm desperate !

I do not agree with previous answers. Your tax depends on what you income has been so far this tax year and when you start the job. If you have just come to the Uk, would also need to know where you have come from and how long you intend to be here.

Timmmmmy!!!!
Your first £500ish is tax free (monthly, yearly tax free is 6k), then 20% tax and a national insurance contribution of about 10% on the remainder, So wave goodbye to about £250. You'd end up with around £1065 per month.

And no, its not a good salary for London, but beats your average banker nowadays

Calculate it yourself here: http://listentotaxman.com/

you wouldn't survive on that in London

you would take home about £980 p/m

with tax and N.i knocked off

Kaz
I think you would probably take home about £1,000 roughly. I don't know how much things cost in London, I have never lived there, but I am sure rent would be quite high.

SLF
this is about £15,780 a year (if my sums are correct) - NOT a good salary to live in London. And it's far lower than the average national salary (which is £22,000).
You need to take off about 25% for taxes. It would leave you very little to live on in an expensive city.

jimmy_favorites
you would have to live on the street with that salary. A room would cost you easily $100 per week. Expense is very high at Europe.
