kenshin3017 | How much will taxes deduct from my pay check? |
I started working for McDonalds in San Francisco California just 2 weeks ago. I work 40 hrs a week for 2 weeks already so I'm guessing my paycheck is coming soon. I never asked but I presume I am getting paid minimum wage which is $9.79 hourly. My question is how much money will taxes deduct from me? I already tried the paycheckcity.com but I'm not quite sure how to use it, all I did was put in my state, im single, and 80 hrs of work which equals to 780 but the site reported taxes will deduct $200!!! which I hope isn't true... so can anyone please shine some light on my question? Additional Details more help please, the 2 links below didn't help and I think it was just advertisement for some home business crap. |

figure about 30% withheld, if they aren't deducting for health insurance or savings plan, etc. |

Based on the information that you provided, and assuming that you are payed weekly, I calculated by using paycheckcity.com that your total deductions will amount to $65.21, assuming that you are payed on a weekly basis.
Gross $391.60
Deductions $ 65.21
Net Pay $326.39 |

That sounds about right.
Bi-weekly Gross Pay: $783.20
Federal Withholding: $53.11
Social Security: $48.56
Medicare: $11.36
California: $8.79
CA SDI: $8.62
Net Pay: $652.76
That's based upon 1 withholding allowance. You might be able to kick that up to 2 allowances (Federal only) if you are single and cannot be claimed as a dependent. That would result in a net paycheck of about $673.00 but could result in a small debt at filing time next year. If this will be your only income for the year you will be safe with 2 or even possibly 3, but if you go that high you will need to reset it to 1 or 2 immediately after the New Year. |
