How much would my gross monthy income be on 19,000 when you factor in taxes, etc.?
I've just been offered a job in London at 19,000 pounds a year. I need to know how much I can budget for housing, etc., but I can't figure out the exact amount of tax I would pay on that... I suppose I would be in the 'normal' tax bracket, as am not disabled, a student, etc. And I would be UK taxations btw...

Thanks!

oops! Okay, I mean my 'net monthly income'... Was never good at economics!

Looking at your answers so far, mine might be a bit generous, but I got the accountant who sits by me to work it out - so here goes:

£5,035 is not taxed (this has recently gone up)
£2,150 is taxed at 10% (£215)
£11,815 is then taxed at 22% (£2,599)

That means that £2,814 is deducted each year, leaving you with £ 16,186 which is £1,349 per calendar month take home pay.

Your not taxed on your NET monthly income, only on gross it's usually 22 - 25% on a flat rate, depend on other circumstances.
I suggest that you get a tax rebate form and just see if there is anything you can claim for, you'll surprised what you can a cannot claim for. Have a look its free and you might squeeze some of it back...... better in your pocket than Mr Blair's

with tax and national insurance they take about a quarter! so divide 19000 by 4 which is 4750. this leaves you 14250, which divided by 12 into your monthly pay is 1187.50.
This is only a rough estimate though so it might not be correct to the penny!

I've used my tax code but this may be slightly different for yourself, you can check your tax code at the web site below. Based on a gross salary for the month being £1583.33 you would need to pay £234.62 a month in tax and £127.93 in National Insurance. Meaning you would be taking home £1220.78 a month or £14,649.36 annual.

If you want to confirm this with your tax code, visit the below web site, use tax code checking to find your tax code. Then use the payslip checker to find hoe much you'll be taxed per month.

You want to know the net, 19,000 is the gross.
So the answer would be gross is 19,000 :)

my mam works for the inland revenue so im going by what she told me with my job.
First 4895 is tax free
then teh next 1500 is subject to 10% tax
then the rest would be at 21%. so erm i'll work that out
not to forget n.i.c which is at 6% gross
so erm...
6% =1140
17860-4895 =12965
12965-1500=11465 +150 tax so far
son basically you would be paying 3697 is tax and national insurance
so is it worth it?

If you go to Salary.com you can put your annual salary in and it will calculate it for you. It would be difficult to assess on here, since we don't know if you are married, single, have 5 kids......

It depends on what your tasx code is-- i canonly guess but u would be looking at possibly £1100 per month or just under.

gross monthly income is income before taxes. 1600 a month is what it comes out to in gross income. taxes are what about 40-45 % percent over there? (just guessing), so at a 40% rate you would have approximately 940 pounds per month left
