NereidoftheBlue | How much would the tax be for something $249.99? |
Hey all, I'm not very familiar with taxes, so I'd really appreciate the help. I'm planning on giving my nephew enough money to buy something that's $249.99, the only problem is that I'm not sure how much it is with tax.
What is the total price of a $249.99 item with tax? Additional Details Ah, sorry I omitted my state. I live in California. And yes, to whoever asked, I am giving him money to buy a Wii. |

Call the store where it is being purchased and ask their percent tax.
so if you are buying a pair of jeans that cost $249.99 and the tax is 8.75%, you set it up like this=
249.99 X (.0875) = # of $$ that the tax is. Add this number to 249.99 to get your total.
if tax is more than 10%, so like if it is 13.34%, it would be .1334 as a decimal. |

It depends what state you're in. In Michigan sales tax is 6%, so here tax would be $15.00. Multiply 249.99 x .06 (or what your percent is) and you'll know how much tax is. |

Taxes are determined by the City, County and/or State.
Look on your State's website or call a local store to find out. |

it depends on where you live each state has different sales tax rates |

Depends on the sales tax rate where it is being purchased. Here in CA at 8.25%, the total would be $270.62. |

It depends on where and how you buy it.
If you go to a store and buy it, it will be based on whatever the county or state tax is where the store is located. For example, in Oregon there is 0 sales tax, but in California each county has its own sales tax rate in addition to the state sales tax.
If you buy it on the internet and it is from a store that does not have a physical location where ever the item is being shipped to (either to you or your nephew), then there will be no tax. Otherwise it will depend on the local rate of where it is being shipped to.
Most sales taxes though range between 5 and 9%.
So to be safe, you can assume that it will be an extra 10% for tax, meaning that it very likely won't be more than $249.99 + 10% = $275
You can find a list of sales taxes by state here: http://www.thestc.com/STrates.stm |

Well, darling, it depends on WHERE YOU LIVE. For instance my state charges 6 cents on the dollar but my city adds an additional 1 cent for a school tax, so my total tax on the dollar is 7 cents. |

it depends on what state your in... each state has a different tax rate. It's probably somewhere between 6% and 8%... so... the additional cost of taxes should be between $15 and $20. |

Hi,
Dear it doesnt just depend on the amount! It depends more on the item you r gonna buy for your loved ones. So, if possible do write in what probably you will be buying, Like an Electronic Device, Some Food Stuff, or whatever! |

It depends on what state you live in, some of the states charge different tax rates, for example, I think NJ is 6% tax.
So that would be 249.99 times (x) .06
that would be 14.99 tax
249.99 + 14.99= 264.98
(But that's only if it's 6% tax rate) What state do you live in?
Here is a link so you can find out what your state's tax rate is http://www.taxadmin.org/FTA/rate/sales.html
Any questions about the formula or website let me know :) |
