Your Incapacity will go up to £90 a week soon Elric, you could always claim Disability Living Allowance as well, or just tick the income support box on the back of the prescriptions! |

Not very fair at all.But the most annoying thing is all the malingerers that force the state to treat honest people so shoddily |

I thought the state stated you had to have more than £109pw.
Get your GP to give you a scrip for 2 months supply of warfarin each time (it will save them work) & apply for housing/council tax benefit etc. You surely must be able to get community care grants if you need things too.
Get in touch with your benefits advice peeps - usually at the town hall.
Sorry not more help. Maybe there is an expert on here. |

It;s not fair that's for sure, and if we weren't handing out money left right and centre to every tom dick and mohammed who stuck his hand out perhaps you would be getting better treatment. |

That is presuming that you pay for one prescription per week. And if that is the case, you should apply for a 12-month Prescription Prepayment Certificate which will cost you £98.70.
This works out at less than 2 pounds per week, which means you are still in the lead.
However you are right, the system does stink.
This site has more info.

it seems the welfare state helps them that know how to work the system, but it dicriminates against people who have paid into the system |

You need to get yourself a form from the dhhs which will help with payments on long term medicines or even free Elric.
I would check it out it is not right you pay full price for long term life saving drugs.
A friend of mine on long term medicine is the same as you in regards of incapacity benefit and he got a form form DHSS and does not have to pay as much now and some are free.
Have you thought about claiming Attendance Allowance and motability I think you would get them as your long term sick and cant work that would help a lot Elric.
My friend gets lower rate for both and it does not effect you incapacity benifit in fact it increases it a bit alos DLA is not means tested so will not effect anything else. |

what you need is not understandable.. however, approach the authorities concerned explaining full details.. They may hear patiently.. and chances are there for more sanctions.. |

Scroll down this form and you will find that you can claim DLA and other allowances -I think it said £25.50 . Himindoors claimed and we filled in the forms as accurately as possible and it came back 'NO' so he went back to the doctor and the doc filled in the form for him in 'doc speak' and he now gets the upper limit. It's worth a try or 2 anyway.
As Bex said- come to Wales to our house- you'll be welcome - season of good will and all that !
In the meantime -can't you just 'tick the back' ??!! |

I was on incapacity for a while once and i got free prescriptions......strange i thought any welfare benefit was an exemption even jobseekers allowance. |

I would go to the Citizens Advice Bureau and ask them to help you to apply for Disability Living Allowance instead of Incapacity Benefit. It is hard to get DLA if you fill the form in yourself, you really need professional help. The CAB are experts in things like this. Good luck. |

Well that seems totally unfair Elric as even when I was working I got free prescriptions for my thyroxine because it is life saving so I can't see why yours should be any different. You have lots of advice her though. |

Sounds like you should be on DLA not incapacity benefit, then you will qualify for free prescriptions.
Apply for DLA. |

You may be unfit to work but there are loads of spongers who can work but don't. Therefore they are taking money from you indirectly.
My dad worked after a triple heart bypass for years. He was in admin. |

That does sound unfair but I would keep trying to find out more about it or perhaps ask at the CAB or the jobcentre they will tell you exactly what you should be claiming. |

I think the welfare states ought to be called "mini welfare things" for they are up to now on trial.Do you notice how well/bad they fare -since decades gone ! Is it not an appellation used by politics to collect as many votes as possible from voters they fool so much? |

You don't want to get me started on the gov. , child protective services gave me my sis two kids and they won't help me out. I can't get wic, food stamps, child support from the mom nothing. And the icing on the cake is that I have 4 kids of my own, my husband is the only one working. |
|

Well next time you're in this world, you need to be bone idle, never work, pop as many kids out as possible and you will get more money than you need and they will encourage you to keep collecting it. Better still, come over from another country and hold your hand out, you'll even be able to send money home to your kids or better still, claim family allowance for them living in another country. Easy really, honest, hardworking people such as yourself are just paying for the spongers and immigrants!!! Good luck! Vote for a different party at the next election. |
