amelia | How should I fill out my w4 so that I do NOT owe any money back at the end of the year? |
I'm married with a young child but my husband is claiming her. |

www.paycheckcity.com is a paycheck website that should be very helpful in figuring this for you. |

Claim zero allowances. If you are married, then you'd probably be filing a joint return so whether you owe would depend also on what your husband claims on his W-4. If you aren't married, then filing single/zero should work. |

claim 0 deductions |

When you fill out your W4, you need to claim 0. That way you
alot of money back at the end of the year.

You could always claim 0. That way they take the most taxes out, and when you go to do your taxes you'll get most of it back. |

Claim "ZERO" or "0" on everything! |

Overall, everyone is correct that the best way to prevent owing money at the end of the year is to claim '0' on your W-4.
However, this does not necessarily mean that you will not owe taxes. If you are in a profession where you are collecting straight commissions (broker, sales) or are in the Service industry (waitress), you may be receiving money that is not being taxed. Eventually, you will be taxed on this.
Just an overall recommendation, although you did not ask : Since you are married and have a child, I recommend you file jointly. Both you and your husband will pay less taxes, overall. |

if you and your husband both work, and he claims her, then try claiming 0 for dependants. most people claim 1 for themselves, but 0 takes out the max amount of tax. this will usually get you a federal refund, if not state too
also, you can change your claim if it turns out there is too much money being taken for taxes. |
