How soon should wage statements be mailed out to employees?

If you are talking about your W2 earnings statement, Federal and State laws mandate that employers get these to their employees no later than January 31st of the subsequent year.

Most employers will do everything in their power to provide these to employees soone than January 31st. But many things can complicate this process, most notably the year-end accounting processes that are being undertaken at the same time.

W2s must be mailed out by the end of January.

It's a law that W2's must be postmarked no later than January 31st.

The employer has to mail the W-2 to you (or give it to you) by January 31st, by law.

Sonic is trying to stay Retired
Soon......probably mid January.

By law, the recipients copy must be mailed out by January 31st. And the IRS copy must be mailed out by February 28th.

by Jan 31st, is the mandatory due date per the fed gov. If they are going to be late , the comp. needs to let employees know by the 15th of Jan, and they will require the comp, to pay a fine, it is a big one, so most comapnies are never late. This of course means the companies mail them to you , no later than Jan 31st before midnight.

Federal law requires that the W-2 statements for the preceeding year be sent out by the end of January. Failure to meet the deadline may bring fines from the IRS. Also, employees who file early may be forced to re-state their taxable earnings if they do not receive the W-2 in time.
