Puja P | How to Save Tax On salary? |

I don't think that you have to pay tax for this fiscal year. because
(a) Rs 1500/- of your house rent, TA @ Rs 800/- per month, and interest on your educational loan can be deducted from your gross income of the year.
(b) compulsory deduction of 10% of your pay for PF per month for the fiscal year will fall in the rebate arena of max of Rs 1,00,000/-.
(c) Finally after deducting the above from the gross income, no tax will be deducted upto Rs 1,50,000/- of your taxable income.
Therefore, I think your income will not attract tax in this fiscal year. |

First of all you have not given complete details as like Provident Deduction from your salary.
You can get rebate on House Rent which is 18000/- in a year and which Provident Fund has been dedcuted from your salary and you can also buy a policy from LIC of India as like Jeevan Anand whole life policy, New Bima Gold Money Back Policy you can contact me over 9212715026 and Email ID devender_ksharma@rediffmail.com |

Hi Dear
The year for I-Tax is from 1st Mar to 30th April
To Save Tax you have to Invest upto one Lac in ELSS, PPF, 5 yrs Bank Deposit for Tax saving, LIC, NSS or Tax saving Bonds.
ELSS has 3 yrs Lock-in, PPF has 15yrs Lock-in, NSS is 6yrs |

The HRA would help but one needs the HRA component of your salary to check the eligibility. The education loan, you need to see the interest you will be paying for the FY which is again a debate in tax.
Your tax comes to 12223 without any deductions and assuming the whole pay to be basic (no PF deduction etc). This is assuming you are female working in a non-metro.
I suggest you download and use the calculator at http://www.freewebs.com/rajanpras/itcalcfy2009.htm and look at the tax liability and look for ways to cover that value.
PS: An insurance policy is always good - for us or for the nominee. |

Only interest on education loan is deductible.....not principal u/s 80C. Additionally you can invest in ELSS, ULIP etc...but given the current market scenario...do not go in for ELSS or ULIP now..go in for LIC or other life insurance...mediclaim/health insurance also is deductible for up to 15000/20000...
If you give donation u/s 80 g then it will also reduce tax.... |

For the AY 2009-10 income upto 150000 is tax free
your taxable income is 74000 on which you have to pay tax slabwise
Your PF if any will be deducted and for tha balance you have to invest in LIC or in similar tax saving measures
Further if you ask your employer to break your salaryin to components as follows. your taxable portion will get reduced
1.Transport Allowance Rs800per month or Rs9600per year
2Children education allowance 100 per child per month for 2 children provided you have school going children
3 your employer has to give HRA provided you are staying in a rentd house
all the above have to be part of your salary pachage |
