I'm a single Texas dad with full custody. I claim head of household and get back anywhere from 1400.00 -1900.00. Even when I was out of work for almost a year because of a motorcycle wreck I still got money back. Different things affect how much you get tho like ..Do you have full custody and do you get child support. My ex never pays her child support so I get more in my refund because I pay for everything for my child. |

income tax refunds actually refund money that you have overpaid (in taxes) throughout the year.
if you havent paid any taxes, then you obviously cant get a % of zero back |

If you havent work they whole i dont think you can file, you have to have some kind of income, or if you are able to file them you will only get the child credit back which is like 1500 i think |

You have to have earned income for the tax year to claim the tax credit. If you did not work at all and had no income for the year, you are not eligible for the various tax credits. Get a part-time job to have some type of earned income to qualify for these credits. |
