How would you feel about a new law that takes LESS taxes the harder you work?
I keep thinking about how this country needs to change, and this is one major way how. Instead of rewarding those who dont WANT to work, how about a tax reduction for those who want to work MORE. For the record, I have a family, and I work 80 hours a week EASY while my wife works 40. And I get about 1200 a month taken out in taxes, and then I will be told I make "too much" at the end of the year. Why should a hard working american be punished for trying to do better? Its time for a change, and I would like to hear other's thoughts on this.

It's supposed to be that way. The way it is now is communism. I remember my senior year in high school. My U.S. history teacher was a maniacal, raving liberal and was very open about it. He once ranted about some millionaire in the late 19th century making 23 million tax-free. That's the way it's supposed to be. A flat tax of 1/8 of one percent is more than plenty. Any more and the government will waste it. The brain dead bureaurats, who are working for the govt because they failed in the private sector, will steal, hire their friends whom will steal, the howls will go out that more taxes are needed, then the brain dead bureaurats will steal some more, get their friends hired, whom will steal, and the govt will holler again that they are broke and taxes need to be raised again. Another insidious thing is that sorcerer psychologists and socialist feminazis are stealing children from their families because it brings more Federal funds. Fathers are being criminalized. Socialist feminazis are pressuring and even threatening wives to divorce their husbands. Cut off the money to the Federal government so funds cannot go to socialist workers, HHS, DCSE and several other evil agencies. Liberals want to punish success and reward laziness. It didn't work at Plymouth, MA and it didn't work in Jamestown. These important history lessons are not taught any more, thanks to the aclu, the nea and opinion molding groups and "people that matter" - shrinks, liberal theologians, movie "stars", the press, international bankers, CFR and others.

Well, if you reduce the burden on higher income taxpayers you have to make up the revenue somewhere. That leaves it to the middle class and the poor. Neither of them have the ability to carry that load.

Even if you're in the highest tax bracket, the highest Federal tax rate is 35%. That still leaves you with 65% or more of your income in your pocket. That's hardly a punitive or confiscatory tax burden -- and you won't even hit that rate until your taxable income exceeds just under $350,000. At that income level you'll find it very hard to find anyone with any compassion for your "burden."

If you're pulling in that kind of money you really should be consulting with a Certified Financial Planner about maximizing your wealth (and possibly controlling your tax burden) instead of whining about transferring your tax burden to the poor.

Who is going to define "the harder you work" or decide how much anyone gets? I can see your point, but there's no real way to do it.

That's incorrect. A lot of people would love to work more. It's simply hard to find jobs that will let you work nights and weekends.

Are you going to give the poor higher taxes (which they won't be able to afford to pay anyway) to make up the difference? Also, the IRS does not tax hours worked, they tax income. Someone could make $150,000 a year working 40 hours a week, while someone else makes $30,000 a year working 60 hours a week.

The best way to do it would be to eliminate the income tax altogether and implement a small flat tax and supplement that with higher sales taxes.

80 hrs a week huh? I'm sure you and your wife have a lovely relationship, but how can you put a monetary value on time spent with a loved one? I'm sorry to meddle in your personal affairs, but I work close to 50 and have a flexible schedule and I still don't get enough time with my wife.
As for your tax idea, it would be really hard to apply. Would you base it on hours per week worked? I could say I work from home 100 hours a week. What about stay at home parents?

Good idea. One way to be taxed less is to vote GOP. The 2 leading Democrats are nothing but Socialists
