Judy (answer above) is correct as always. File to get a refund for any federal tax withheld, and DO NOT claim yourself on your return.
Since your adjusted gross income was $54,000 or less in 2007, you can use Free File to prepare and e-file your taxes free online. (Link below.) |

You do have to file if taxes were taken out. You will get it all back. If your parents are claiming you, you will not get a rebate check. As a dependent you are not eligible. |

No, not if it was all on a W-2, but if anything was withheld for federal income tax (box 2 of your W-2) you should file a return to get it refunded to you. If you are a dependent (and at 17 you probably are) you aren't eligible for the stimulus rebate.
If your parents can claim you as a dependent, and they almost surely can if you lived with them for over half of 2007, then be sure to check the "YOU" box on your form 1040EZ that you'll file to note that you can be claimed as a dependent. If won't change what you get back, but if you forget to check it, both you and your parents will have to do some extra IRS paperwork. |

just fill out a 1040 EZ and follow its instructions. |

Assuming you can be claimed as a dependent by your parents, you should still file if any income tax was withheld. You will get a refund of those taxes.
Note that fica taxes (SS & MC) are to pay into social security and are not refundable.
Again assuming you can be claimed as a dependent by your parents, I'm sorry to report that you will not qualify for a prebate check. I hope you haven't planned how you were going to spend that $300 incorrectly promised by some of the other answers! |

No rebate for dependents.
Go to IRS.GOV and click on freefile, you can do your taxes for free. Whether you are required to or not, it is a good time to start understanding the tax system since your return is simple and it is inevitable that you will file for the rest of your life. DEATH is also inevitable, but probably not as painful. |

You probably won't have to "pay". You should file as you will probably get a refund. Make sure your parents haven't already claimed you. You can still file, just not claim yourself. |

if you worked and earned that money honestly -- yes, you file! otherwise, uncle sam will keep the money that you are entitled to. |

you should get all what they taken out for taxes as a refund |

Since you are still a student (or should be) you still have to file but you should get a refund for all of the money you paid in. |
