If you are going to school, they can put you on their taxes. If your just living at home, they cannot.

If you have a job ; you file your own taxes.

No they don't. That is up to you and them. You should try yo find out what to do though so that the minimum ammt. of taxes are paid though. (And/or to get the maximum ammt. of a refund.
Whatever works for you all.

As long as they pay at least 50% of your expenses, then yes, they can claim you. They don't HAVE to, but they're much better off financially if they do.

Living expenses include: rent, car, car insurance, gas money, groceries, personal care items, tuition.

If you live with them, chances are they pay at least 50% of your expenses.

Well they can, if they are paying for all your expenses despite the fact that you have a job....call a tax place and ask them., that would be your best bet. Or go to the IRS website and see if they have a Q&A section on there.

If you were a full-time student for some part of at least five months of 2006, then they can claim you as a dependent. If you weren't in school at least that long, then they can't claim you.

If they can claim you, you have to file taxes if you made over $5150 - if you have unearned income in addition to your income from your job, the limit it much lower. If they can't claim you, then you are required to file if your income is over $8450.

if you have a job then no..you can file your own..but if you don't work then yes they can because you are their dependent.
