You're still responsible for paying taxes on your income, even if your employer did not withhold. No matter how it's taken out of your paycheck (you or your employer), it's still your money going to the IRS in the end.

I suggest you contact a tax expert on how to file your taxes. If you are self-employed, you are supposed to pay quarterly estimated tax payments to the IRS throughout the year, and there is a penalty for not doing so.

If you're paid by the hour, then you are legally an employee of theirs and they are required to pay matching funds into your social security as well as unemployment. I would notify the IRS that this situation is going on and immediately seek a new employer. You can get in really big trouble doing this.

If you are paid by salary (irregardless of the amount of hours worked) then you may be considered a subcontractor and are responsible for paying your own taxes.

If you are employed, your employer is required to pay in certain taxes like Social Security, Medicare, and withholding. I think you should look for a different employer so that you don't get in trouble. You should file your taxes and pay what you owe.

I don't think she will get into any trouble for not taking them out, but you will have to pay them.

You're still responsible--she is treating you like an independent contractor by not filing taxes on you, and she still needs to give you a tax form (I believe it's a W-9) so you can declare your wages on your taxes. The tax form has a place for you to declare the amount of taxes which you have paid, to offset the total taxes due. If there is no offset, you're responsible for the entire amount, minus any deductions you might have. You need to file your taxes before April 15.

You are responsible for you income taxes. You can file you tax at anytime up until The 15th of April. After that you will need to file an extension

Sara S
YOU are responsible for reporting all income that you receive. She SHOULD take taxes out for you - but if she doesn't - then you are responsible for reporting this income. You'll be taxed on it, and therefore most likely have to pay into the government. BUT it's better to pay it now, then to be audited sometime and have to pay way more later for tax fraud.
