You can download form P85 from www.hmrc.gov.uk and use it to claim a tax refund. You will get a P45 when you leave work - just send it to your tax office with the P85.
In the absence of anything to the contrary in your employment contract, you only have to give a week's notice if you have been employed for less than a year.
Good idea to inform your doctor you are leaving and of course settle all your household bills - otherwise, no one else needs to know.

its two weeks notice you tell your boss

A rough guide used to be linked to how you were paid, unless you have signed a Contract. Paid weekly - 1 week's Notice; paid monthly - 1 month's Notice.
My daughter and family emigrated to warmer climes a year ago - says she still feels as though she's on holiday (wearing shorts and suncream for 9 months of the year instead of just 9 days!). They rented a house for 12 months to make sure that they were doing the right thing and have just put in an offer to buy (cheaper than England).
Some niggles about things she can't get, but came back to visit us a few weeks ago with an empty suitcase which she filled with unobtainable "necessities"!
Inform doctor, dentist, etc.
You can get your mail re-directed for a fee - get a post re-direction form from the Post Office.
Citizen's Advice Bureau should be able to help with advice about all the nitty gritty - no real problems if you are staying within the European Community.

Just tell your boss when your leaving. As far as I know temps can give instant notice...its one of the benefits of temp working! :D

Tell your Dr surgery you will be leaving their area and that you will be going abroad. They will forward your notes on once you register with a GP wherever you end up.

I dont think you need to contact the tax office, but best do it anyway as you will still be a British Citizen. You should also speak to the Electoral role lot as you will still be entitled to your vote wherever you live.

Enjoy your new life!!! Good luck!
