No, you'd file as single. "Head of Household" is for people with dependents.

No, you can't file as head of household - one of the requirements is that you have a dependent.

viajero_intergalactico
you can only file as head of household if you have a qualifying dependent.

for example, a cousin can be a dependent for the exemption, but not for HOH purposes. so certain dependents count, others dont when dealing with HOH.

bostonianinmo
No, not unless you are supporting a close relative such as your child or parent.

A household can't consist of only one person. "Head of household" means you're taking care of someone else on your salary (i.e., a dependent).

Gary
No. You must claim a qualifying dependent. You file as single, your standard deduction is a little more because of your age.

kathykoul
You being the "head of your household" has nothing to do with IRS definition of head of household. For tax purposes Head of Household requires a qualifying dependent.

AAK7
Why would you file for head of household when you have no dependents? Get legal advice from a professional.

YOU WILL NEED TO FILE UNDER SINGLE, IF YOU HAD A SPOUSE OR CHILDREN THAT WOULD BE CONSIDER DEPENDENTS AND THEN YOU WOULD FILE AS HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD SO JUST ENTER IN SINGLE. BUT THE GREAT NEWS IS YOU QUAILFY FOR 300.00 CHECK IN MAY FROM IRS
