Bev T | I'm working as a temp & have been on BR tax code since July 08, does that code mean I'm paying too much tax? |
I've been working for the same company since 7 July as a temp. I've been on BR tax code since I started & still am, does that mean I'm paying more tax than I should be?
I have contacted the company's tax office and given them my details and the necessary P-form from my previous employer but nothing has changed yet. I've asked my employer & they're "looking into it" but seem to be taking forever! |

What code number was on your form P45 that you gave employer? You should have retained form P45/1A, and it will be on there. If necessary give employer photocopy of that, and ask what there is to sort out.
If still no joy, contact tax office, and ask them to send employer form P2 (formal notice of correct code number)
NB. On code BR, tax deduction should be 20%. |

Yes chances are you are paying too much tax. Ring the tax office they will be able to advise you. |

Yeah I'm the same, you need to fill in a P46 from ur employer and you will get a new tax code and tax rebate |

I'm afraid there probably isn't a lot more they can do. ask them to see what your tax code was on the P45 that you gave them from your previous employer. If that says BR, then it's a historical issue which you will have to raise with the tax office.
If that isn't the tax code, then your new employer has processed your details incorrectly and needs to inform the tax office of your correct tax code. |

Depending on your personal circumstances, and how much you are earning!! But the likely answer is yes, you are. Everyone is entitled to a 'tax free' entitlement each year, which you are currently not receiving. All of your earnings are being taxed |

yes you are on basic rate tax - which is a temporary rip off tax. When you started work you should have given in your p45 or p60. This will then sort your tax code out.
Phone tax office to sort, and get ready for a nice little back payment! |

will take a bit of time for them to sort it out. sounds like your on a emergency tax code. just bear with it for the next week or 2. if nothing happens after that. speak to your pay dept and ask them why they are dragging their heels about it. |

First the bad news your paying to much tax (30%), good news is you should get it back depending on how much you earn. If you have given the tax office either a P45 or P46 then they are sorting it out. However, it is down to you, NOT, your employer to sort it out. |
