What a lot of uninformed answers here!
Your tax position is complicated and it really depends on which country you are resident in. I assume you are employed by a UK employer. You need to contact the tax office which deals with your employer - probably Cardiff Marine. They will issue the necessary forms to ascertin your position for tax purposes. |

you need to go to your local tax offices to get that sorted out. i don't believe you should be paying tax, but it depends on your circumstances.. like if you're a student here, but only here for the term, etc.. you should get it refunded.. the tax office people will be able to help you out. |

Look at it this way, friend: There are states around the world, where you can work there and not be taxed at all. And there are many states where their law say : if you benefited here, then you get taxed here. As simply as that. If that's the law in UK, then spo be it. You cannot get a refund. Maybe, you can apply for work in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait or Oman. Guess they don't tax you there.
Look at the other way though: if you are paying taxes there, it means you deserve your money's worth in terms of services. That's the primary purpose of taxation. There are other reasons, though, like sin taxes for tobacco or alcohol. |
