Some of these answers are wrong and some are right.
To clarify: You have a personal allowance of £6035 before you pay any tax. You can then earn a further £34,800 which is taxed at 20%. Some benefits are also taxable so they are counted as part of your income for these purposes.
You will earn a total of £15,500 in a year, and it makes no difference whether you have 1 job, or 2 jobs, or 20 jobs. The total amount of tax you pay will be the same.
It will seem like you pay a lot more tax on the second job, because the tax on the first job will be lower to take account of your tax free personal allowance. But it would be exactly the same as if you got a £2,500 rise in the first job and quit the second one. This is shown in your tax codes, which tell your employer how much tax to deduct. The code for the first job will be something like 603L and the second job will be BR.
Tax is calculated in years that start on 6th April. If you start these jobs soon, and you have not earned much this tax year, then you may temporarily pay too much tax to start with. This is because you will not earn enough in the first job before 6th April to fully use your personal allowance. But you will still pay 20% tax on the second job when actually you are entitled to use the remainder of your personal allowance against it. If this happens the tax office will sort it out directly with you after 6th April.
Once you are in the new tax year everything will sort itself out. |

You will pay the same tax as if you had 1 job @ 15500 per annum.
Your tax code will be set against the 13k job and the second job taxed at 20%, the basic rate of tax. |

Your tax liability will be based on the total earned at the two jobs. The tax however might only be collected from only one of the jobs so it will seem a lot at the time but in the end it will equalise out. |

No
You can have as many jobs as you like as you like and will only pay high rate tax when the total income goes over 37K |

You will pay the base rate on the 2nd job with the least income. |

seeing it is only a part time job you are earning a lot for your first job [£250 a week] i wouldn`t mind that, anyway yes you will pay 20% tax on all £2,500 on your 2nd job. |

Hi Insomnia's answer is wrong. Dave's Mums answer is better.
The way it works is that you pay no tax for the allowance amount, then 20% tax on everything after that up to £34,800 (this year - up to April) Then 40% on anything over that (again for this year)
This means that out of the £13,000 job you would pay tax on £13,000-£6,035=£6,965 at 20% = £1,393 Tax a year
If you just did the £2,500 job you would pay no tax, but you would be skint!
If you did both you would pay 20% tax on (13,000 + 2,500) - 6,035 =9,465 = £1893 Tax per year
As you can see on the link the allowance goes up for next year, so you would pay a bit less after April.
If you have been out of work, your benefits would be counted as part of your allowance. SO if you had received £3,000 so far this tax year you would start paying tax after the next £3,035 which would probably mean you would not end up paying tax until April.
Hope this helps to make it clearer. |

yes, since taxes come out of your income, you will pay more. and you will pay as much as the percent of your income comes. |

i believe you will, i earn nowhere near 37k and i have to pay basic rate tax if i do any work other than my own job |
|

Please punctuate properly folks.
 |
yes, careful with that - it can be almost totally pointless to have a second job, as the grasping Chancellor taxes it so highly. Sadly, not a lot you can do, other than try them both, and see what you get stung with. |
