I've worked o/time this month & paid NI contributions. Will I be able to claim this back?
I normally only take home under £300 a month and this overtime is a one off and I've paid £78 in NI contributions!

Yes, you will get it back weekly when you're 65, and you can get free medical care when you're ill, and subsidised spectacles and dental care. What a bargain for £78.

grindandflash
Your NI contributions are based on your actual earnings per month, whereas the tax is based on your yearly earnings. If at the end of the year you have overpaid tax on your income, any extra can be claimed back. This is not he case for NI.

no

No NI contributions are deducted at source (11%) and there is no exception for overtime.

You will not be able to claim it back. You earned over the Lower Earnings Limit for this month.

No thats the trouble with overtime, you dont actually get to see much advantage in cash, bludy tax man!

Jamie Armour

Afraid not. Your N.I. contributions are calculated as a percentage of your total gross income. They don't make exceptions for overtime.

Wish they would though.
