The rules are the same male or female. If the shoe were on the other foot, you'd be happily anticipating that refund check of your ex, huh? They don't always warn you in advance, I know a few who have gone to pick up their refund after having filed rapid only to be told "Sorry". Years ago my ex was in arrears and his was taken and sent to me, I wasn't expecting it, had no clue until he called me up and told me it had happen. |

If the debt has been turned over to FMS for collection, your tax refund will be captured and applied against what you owe.
You can see if you have been flagged for capture by calling 1-800-304-3107. |

If they have a legal case against you they will take your tax return up to the amount you owe. If you owe 3k and your return is 5k you get 2k back. If you owe 5k and your return is 3k they will take it all and you will still owe the remainder. How can you be a single mom and owe child support? |

you owe yourself for child support? (single mother get it? LOL). Well, you should always pay child support. I know guys that do, even if they only eat a bagle for the day. So i'm sorry that you have to be concerned that someone would TAKE your money to give it to YOUR child. Just makes me really sad, who cares what the situation is. That is your baby, your child if they don't take your tax money, you should give it. It's never too late to do the right thing. My 2 cents |

I wont judge you like others. You may owe back support becaues of a job loss or sickness (I am dealing with cancer at the present time an am not working). We dont know that. However........I dont think they will if you havent received any notice. I was worried about the gov keeping my stimulus money because I was in default on student loans. They DIDNT take the stimulus money but months later I got a notice in the mail that if I didnt start making an effort to pay that they woudl then start taking my taxes etc etc. I believe you have to be notified before they just start taking it. |
