There are a lot of wrong answers here, so please go the IRS website and check it out for yourself.
Whether you should file depends on how much money you made and if any Federal Income Tax was withheld.
Assuming you are claimed as a dependent, if your wages were less than $5350, then you are not REQUIRED to file, but you SHOULD file to receive a full refund if any Federal Income Tax was withheld from your pay.
You can use Free File to prepare and e-file your taxes online:

Usually if you don't make a high amount and you are claimed by someone else you will still get back a portion of what you paid in. This is assuming that you didn't mark any exemptions on your W4 when you started your job. |

Even if you don't expect a refund, you should still file, in order to prove to the IRS that you don't owe THEM anything.
And, if you qualify for the "earned income credit", they'll give you a refund even if you didn't get that much withheld. |

You have to file it by law because if you worked and dont file it and you ever get audited you can end up owing big bucks. Even if you dont get anythig back you shouold still go to an accountant and file your taxes!!! |

You can file, but you might or might not get anything back. I'm not sure you understand just what a refund is. Through the year you might have money withheld from your paycheck for federal income tax. At the end of the year, you prepare a form called a tax return to calculate how much tax you owe total for the year, and compare that to what was withheld. If you had more withheld than your total tax, you get the extra back as a refund. If you didn't have enough withheld, you have to pay the rest rather than getting a refund.
If you are hearing about the stimulus rebate, you aren't eligible if you are a dependent. Otherwise, if you have at least $3000 income from a job that you reported on your tax return, you would get at least $300. That won't come until May at the earliest, and could be sometime this summer. |

look the form for the 1040 EZ is exactly what it says easy. Just run through it and see if you get money back. If you didnt make much you may get back what you paid in. |

You can file. There is a certain amount you have to make to have to file. However, even if you didn't make that amount, you can still file your taxes.
NOTE***** Make sure no one else has filed you on their taxes...i.e. Mom.
I would suggest filing. That way you will get one of the checks that are going out in May. If you do not file, you will not get a check. |

talk to your local hr block office. they don't charge for advice. if you made over 3000, you qualify for the rebate as long as your mom hadn't claimed you as a dependent. if she claimed you you can still file and get some tax money back. how much you get back depends on how much was withheld from your paychecks. If less than 50 dollars, might not be worth it to file. |

If you want a rebate check you must file, it is easy to do online, check irs.gov |

Normally, I'd say no.
However, if you are not a dependent and made more than $3000, then you should file in 2007 due to the rebate of $300 being sent out.
If you don't have children, you are too young for EIC. |
