Irish girl
I am a single mom with 1 child. I was expecting to get back $600 for me and $300 for my child, with Bush's
tax rebate. I just looked at my bank statement, and only $600 was deposited...where is my childs portion? Do they deposit at different times? Im trying to get a hold of the IRS, but not having any luck. Do you know who I contact regarding this matter?

You may have got the $300 for the child. You may have only qualified to receive $300 for you and with the child you got a total of $600.

Get your 2007 tax form and go to the IRS.gov website and use the rebate calculator there. You may find that you didn't earn enough to get the full $600 for yourself.

How did you file your 2007 income tax return? Did you claim your child or did someone else (the child's father, perhaps) claim the child?

Also, did you earn enough income to qualify for the full $600? Not everyone gets $600 you know. Go to www.irs.gov to figure your rebate amount. It could be that you got only $300 for yourself and $300 for your child.

The rebate comes as one check, not separate deposits. So if you only got $600 that's all you are going to get.

You, yourself did not qualify for the $600. The maximum is $600 and it depends on your Adjusted gross income and your tax liability. You got $300 and you got $300 for your child.

I think the refund for singles is $300-$600 with $300 per child. Unfortunatly I think that's probably your whole refund. If you got to the IRS website it tells you what the refund amounts are. I think there is a calculater that will tell you what you can expect to get.

No, it all comes at once. It's most likely $300 for your child and $300 for you. The amount for yourself is $300 unless your net federal income tax liability was more than that for 2007. Many people don't pay any federal income tax or pay very little, under $300 - those people qualify for $300 for themselves from the program.

What you see is most likely correct. All of the materials said UP TO $600, but many people assumed that meant that they would get $600. That isn't how it works. Be glad for the $600 in extra money though.

kwynn_75
The minimum amount for you is $300. and the maximum amount that you could receive is $600. It sounds like you received the minimum amount of $300. for you plus the $300. for your child. Go to the website below "Economic Stimulus Payment Calculator" and put in the information from your 2007 taxes and it should tell you how much you are to receive.

Yes, I have known a couple people to get only $300 per an adult and I believe it is correct because it says that adults qualify for UP TO $600, I think I am in the same boat I will be getting only $300 an adult. I think it matters how much you pay in.

They said you can receive up to $600...maybe you did not qualify for the full amount. Did you check the IRS website?

The Reason u didn't get back for ur child because u only get 300 hundred for u and 300 for your child so the final total is only going to be 600 hundred dollars total if u had more than one child u would have gotten 300 for each child but in ur case u only have 1 child so just 300 for him or she just go the IRS website it gives u more details regarding ur situation.

You both got $300 each.

The rebate payment will equal the amount of tax liability on the return (tax liability on the return Form 1040 line 46 or Form 1040A line 28) with a minimum amount of $300 and a maximum amount of $600 for individuals.

For information on stimulus tax rebate schedule, the eligibility and how much rebate you will get read: http://taxipay.blogspot.com/2008/02/are-you-eligible.html

If you go to www.irs.gov and click on the stimulus link, you should be able to put the information from your taxes in and it will tell you what came from where. It is based on how much you paid in on taxes throughout the year and other sources. I try not to count to much on the government, they tend to bite you every chance they get.

If after reading the answers to your question you still are confused you can call this number to find out details
1-800-829-0582 ext. 462. You will have to hold for a bit but I called last night, held for about 10 minutes and got all the answers I needed. They will ask for the primary SSN, address, birth date, etc. to protect identity, then they will answer any question on the rebate you might have. But it may be that you received the minimum for yourself and the $300.00 for your child.

did your loser of an ex claim your child on his tax return last year ?

♥Rose♥
I believe you are corret. $300 for each child. Did you file your taxes on time this year for 2007? If so, you did include your child on the tax return, right? I would just keep trying the IRS line. I'm sure they are busy right now with lots of questions. Good Luck.
