what to do | I am both the executor and beneficiary of a will but I don't want the inheritance, don't know what to do next! |
What steps do i take to refuse this inheritance, the will was my father's but the property belonged to him and his surviving spouse but left his half to me, but I don't want it and don't know how to do this. There's just too much drama and I don't want anything to do with it and just want to walk away from it but do not have a clue how to! somebody please help!!!! |

Well, if you don't want the drama by being associated with your "prized posession," what if you were to just go ahead and accept that inheritance in the beginning, but then immediately disassociate yourself from it by quickly turning it around and selling it? Then all you'd have from that (at least after a bit of time hanging onto it just while waiting for it to get sold) is some nice money to spend away, right? And then it's all over, isn't it? End of story, right?
Or if you don't even want to be associated with the money for whatever reason, you can always give it to me, and I'll gladly do the "dirty deed of having to spend that away" for you! :)
Good luck.... :) |

Suck it up and deal with it. This is one of the realities of life.
If you don't want the inheritance you can sign your share over to her, but you are still the executor and you should honor that responsibility. |

well, the money has to go somewhere, so just donate it to a good organization and forget about it. |

unfortunately not much you can do, dont see that horrible drama , make your eyes blind to it , dont let all this people talking affect you, because they not gone to let you live in peace until they get what they are after, if you want to get rid off what you gone to inherit because you dont want problems then contact people in necessities give to them a little help, and good luck,,... |

I don't know your circumstances so here some thoughts and you pick what is appropriate for where you are.
These were your father's wishes. Is it not your responsibility to carry them out.
If you don't want the inheritance, donate it to charity.
Who says you can't just "walk away". Let the attorneys fight over it. God knows, they'll want the money if you don't. |

Good question, but I think you should accept it and put it into a trust fund. Your father wanted to leave it to you AND future generations. Some day, you may want your children to have the money. Please consider your father's wishes and the future before giving the money away.
My husband gave a lot of things away when his dad died, too. He was overwhelmed with the situation at first. It's normal to feel sad and overwhelmed after losing your parent.
edit: you could also try having an arbitrator give you ideas on how to handle the situation. |
