;)~ | I am having my taxes done by an acct this year~? |
She charges the fee by form. Does anyone know what the charges may be. I KNOW THEY ARE FREE OFF THE NET, and so on. But she needs to prepare them for me, because they are complicated. Any ideas what the fees are???? |

Each tax preparer/accountant charges what ever it is that they charge. there is no set price per form. They are business's and they can charge what ever they want. There is no set charge for each form regulated by the IRS You would have to call around to see what the places each charge on your own. |

I've been in public accounting for 20 plus years-I started when I was 12 ;). Anyway, theoretically, my firm charged by the form, but if the return became complicated, the return ended up being charged by the hour, not by the form.
To put your mind at ease, I would strongly suggest that you call your preparer to get a ballpark figure. Believe me, I wish some of my employer's clients had done that before going into cardiac arrest when they saw the bill. You'll save everyone some aggravation if you ask right now. |

Any idea what HER fees are? Why don't you ask her?
Do you know what forms you need? Can she give you an estimate?
Certainly we can't tell you if we don't know what she charges, or how complicated your taxes are. |

Surely you asked her before you agreed she could do your taxes! |

Buy TurboTax or TaxCut. Since she is not being upfront about her fees, I surely wouldn't want her doing my taxes. Demand a fee schedule; if she won't supply one, run the other way.
Using the software is easy, it walks you through step by step and is $34.99 or less.
It took me less than 1/2 hour - and my taxes are "complicated" too. |

Depends on the preparer - NEVER go to H&R Block becasue they are really expensive and they are, in my opinion, totally incompetent! |

I think that it depends on the preparer and if he/she is using software or preparing them for you by hand. Also, how much he/she values their time is a factor as well. |

See this link for what this CPA charges per form. Pretty typical but every CPA will be different. Most charge by the hour - some by the form. About the same either way.

Different places charge different fees per form. We have a business so there are quite a few forms to fill out, but since we have been having our taxes prepared by the same accountant we do get a discount and it runs just under $200. I you own your own business, this is a tax write off. The best thing that you can do to be certain is to call and ask the accountant a ball park figure that she will be charging so you are prepared when you go in |

I had a friend that went to H&R Block last year, and her bill was $235 for federal (with Schedule A) and state. |
