I asked a similar question yesterday, but...?
If I am already making payments to the IRS through payroll deduction, will I get either my STATE or FEDERAL income tax return?

chatsplas
Might get the state return. Depends on how old, how much, and whether the IRS asked state to grab it.
Won't get your federal return as it will be grabbed for your tax liability. Benefit is that you will sooner pay off the IRS and not have them breathing down your neck. They'll tak your rebate too, if you still owe them.

Sheila
No, they will at least intercept the federal.

probably not..if you owe the goverment in any branch they will keep your refund against the debt..

Judy1
You won't get the federal, and might or might not get the state return but I wouldn't count on getting it.

Common sense, why would they pay you- if you owe them. Just be happy to get them off your back.

All refunds are subject to offset. Your federal refund will be applied to your debt. If this is enough to reduce your bill to zero, the garnishments will stop.

Ms. Angel..
Per your agreement with IRS all refunds will be offset. If it pay off the total amount due, IRS will then send a letter to your employer to no longer garnish your wages.

Are you making payments to IRS for the previous year (2006)?

Your 2007 taxes will depend on how much income you have this year, what you can deduct, and what is being withheld from your paycheck. You should have all your paperwork to fill out a 1040 which will tell you how much you still owe (if you didn't withhold enough) or how much you will get back.
