My Sister-In-Law works in the post office...in the back where they sort everything out!! She says that although they've been seeing alot of envelopes from the IRS, don't get your hopes up high of it being the stimulus rebate!! It seems to be REFUND checks for the millions of people who wait last minute to file for their taxes!! Just FYI!! :)
Oh...and NO!! We didn't get ours yet!! Not 'til the end of the month!! |

Yes, thousands of people have received their rebate checks. They have been mailing them for almost 2 weeks now.
The other day on the radio a guy was doing his report from an IRS processing center, that was printing rebate checks at that moment. The printer he was standing by prints checks at the rate of SIXTY THOUSAND checks per hour.
That had to be an impressive thing to watch. |

I was scheduled to receive my stimulus (direct deposit) on May 9 (based on IRS payment schedule using the last two digits of ss#). It's now, May 13th and NOTHING!
I filed my return well before the 4/15 deadline and i already received my normal tax refund via direct deposit. |

yes the paper checks are out there they started sending them out over a week ago......
as for nolainka you really don't pay attn to what is going on because the irs states on there web site that they are sending them out early..... |

I got a letter today explaining my "Stimulus Payment" and those exacty words where stamped on the back.
But it was just a letter explaining the amount deposited into my checking account and to use for my taxes next year, it wasnt a check
Perhaps this is what the postal carriers are seeing. |

I am sure that the post office does know what the checks look like, They see letters all the time.
I checked the website on Monday and it read that I mine should be mailed by the 23rd. My last 2 numbers are 12. I know a couple people who's last 2 both start with a 1, and they have no info for them on the website. |

Check the website: www.irs.gov...under "where's my refund" the system is working now and will give data on when to expect your money.
It appears they are not working on distributing numerically, but alphabetically. My digits = 13, my fiancee = 38 - my last name Mc his A. He is receiving his on the 16th me on the 23rd. The annual refunds are distributed alphabetically and I think we were give bad info. |

Amazing that they think they know what the checks are for just for looking at the envelope.
BUT
The paper checks for the Economic Stimulus payments will *begin* being sent on May 16th.
So what your post office informant says they saw would be regular refunds or social security checks or military/civil service retirement pensions or any of several hundred US Treasury payments that are traveling through the mail at any time. |
