I did not file my income taxes? Help?
I did not file last years income tax - I did at H&R block but only found out that I would only be getting back like 50 dollars from fed and 30 from state . Is it OK to file with Next years?

bostonianinmo
No, you can't file that income with next years return. However you can file those returns now and get your money now. There are no penalties on the Federal side if you are getting a refund. A few states do levy penalties for late filing even if you have a refund coming, OH is a good example of one that does.

Because you are getting refunds, you will not be penalized for filing late. Although you cannot combine returns, if you wait until next year to file, and file 2006 and 2007 in one visit to your tax preparer, you will be OK.

Why not fill out the forms yourself (from irs.gov) and mail them in, or use a software package?

You can file electronically until October 15 and get your refund in 8-15 days.

No...each year is separate. You can not add them together.

No it's not OK to file with next year. ONLY $80 back? So why didn't you file? You need to file them if you want your money. Legally you are required to, but if you don't the IRS won't care since they owe you. In some states, you can still be penalized for late filing or not filing even if you would have gotten a refund.

stephenweinstein
The two years have to be on separate forms, but you might be able to put both returns in one envelope to save postage.

You would want to file ASAP. You can file online free of charge for federal. As long as they owe you money they won't penalize you.

Holy crap! wait ...... HOLY CRAP !!!!!! H O L Y C R A P ! ! ! ! again It will be all right just a little FINE and a lot of your time.....

Matrixcm
You mean tax year 2006. If yes, you still have time to file. The deadline is October 15th, 2007. You still need to file and don't want to wait. Each tax year is separate and you can't bundle it with another year. There will be penalties if you don't file on time. Additionally, you could subject to paycheck and interest income garnishments. You don't want that since it will take a long time to remove them.
