I think a lot of people answered this question rudely to you. Since you probably don't have money for a CPA, I suggest you call the IRS to ask them. It's free. This is from their website:

"Taxpayers may ask tax questions by calling the toll-free customer service line at 1-800-829-1040 for individual tax issues"

Assuming that you had no income there is no need to file. Any credits are based upon your income and some are based upon earned income. If there is no income there is no need to file and there are no credits that you could claim.

poo
no you have to have a working income to qualify

If you didn't work how does anyone depend on you, huh? NO,YOU CAN'T GET IT!!!!!!!!!!!! Geeeesh. What a country.

hell no!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you didnt pay anything into taxes

NO WORK NO CREDIT

It's the EARNED income tax credit. And since you didn't have any earned income, no you can't get an earned income credit. The Additional Child Tax Credit also requires earned income to be eligible. So no, with no income, you aren't eligible to get anything back.

How did you live all year with no income, and support 4 kids?

You are not eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EIC). If you look at the first word "Earned" it means that you have income (wages). Since you had no income for 2007 then you will not receive any EIC.

lisa s
I dont think so
the basic idea of filing taxes is to get a refund on the amount that you were "TAXED" by the government on the money that you made.
since you didn't make any money, there is no refund due

Not if you didn't earn anything. Remember disability is considered earnings.

You want to file taxes though so as not to give anyone any question should your files be reviewed in future years.

discuss this with your CPA for the correct answer.

If you have no taxable income under US law you do not HAVE to file however if your within the correct age group you may qualify for the earned income credit so you may want to check the IRS website to see if you qualify though I do believe you have to have some sort of income for that.

princess e
yes you are - file

big nickel
