you probably have to pay a fee at one of those check places, like check n to cash to cash check.

You don't have to have a bank account to cash it. You can also cash it at a money mart or a quick cash.

I believe you can as long as you have a valid form of ID. The bank may have limitations on the amount they'll cash, or may take a fee for the procedure, but they probably won't. If that doesn't work for you, I'd recommend contacting the IRS and asking for another method of payment.

Most banks will not cash a government check if you do not have an account there. A friend of mine tried cashing his initial rebate check at 3 different banks (Commerce, Wachovia, Citizens) and they all said no. He finally found a Bank of America branch that did it, with 2 forms of ID.

I don't know about the poster who said most banks will cash it for free...I work at a bank, they don't usually cash checks for non customers and they especially don't cash them for free!
I do know that if you are talking about your REBATE check that there are some companies out there that are cashing them...Wal-Mart being one I know for sure off the top of my head...I have heard if you have your rebate put onto their prepaid card they waive the check cashing fee...But they will cash all checks even if you don't do that they will just charge a fee...
tito
you can cash them but they will take a small amount of money from you

It will cost a lot to use check cashing places maybe ask a friend or relative

most places don't accept 3rd party checks. take it to a check cashing place it's not free, but they will only take a couple of dollars. Make sure you have your id.
