I think you mean less than the tax threshold so.....
If your earnings are below the current weekly allowance of £100 then neither you nor your employer has anything to pay in terms of Ni or tax but your employer must record your wages on a P11 form to submit to inland rev in april. |

Sorry - don't understand. How can you earn less than the minimum wage? It is the minimum if you are working and is expressed as a rate per hour. Are you saying you earn less than the threshold for National Insurance, currently £100 per week. If you earn less than than the so called 'primary threshold', neither you nor your employer pays national insurance. |

Your employer is suppose to take your NI contributions, regardless of tax, I'd ask your wages department at work. |

No - contributions are only paid once your salary reaches a certain weekly level - at which stage contributions are compulsory. |

Your employer is obliged to pay minimum wage - with you paying your own contributions. Is there any reason why you don't get full pay? Are you on benefits etc?
Get a proper paid job and pay your own contributions! |
