If you worked for one family during 2006, in which you earned the $2100 for babysitting, you are legally a household employee and required to file a tax return. If you are over 24 and under age 65 you may be eligible for earned income credit by filing your taxes.< if you are a legally described Household Employee earning $2100, your employer should have withheld Social Security and Medicare tax from your base pay and issue you a W2>. Check out the IRS website and look under individuals...Schedule H for more precise information on filing requirements for yourself and your employer.

If it counts as a business there wouldnt be a minimum before tax. You would have to file a schedule C and SE along with your 1040.

Well, I don't know what State you live in, but in California (this is going off of last year) you must make over 6K or 7K a year to file taxes. It doesn't mean that you CAN'T file taxes, it is just after the 6 or 7K mark- you MUST file taxes. I am sure most states are the same in the amount. If you got paid under the table-you probably wouldn't get anything back. You earned soo little in the year, (not even $200.00 a month average) you probably wouldn't owe anything either, which is great! I wouldn't file any taxes unless I earned more.

There is a minimum amount you must earn before you have to pay taxes--this is below the minimum.

yea you pay half of it to me. Make the check out to Harry. hhahaha no. there is a minimum of money befire. you need 3160 in order to pay taxes. If you need to some one will contact you for the tax handling. You will need to pay about 7.85 to 8 precent of the money for taxes. good job on the money making

Are you a dependent on some else's return? Is this your only income? If so, you are not required to file taxes and do not owe any income tax.

If you are under 18 and not in the business of being a professional babysitter then you do not pay Social Security or Medicare tax either. A student is automatically not considered to be a professional babysitter.

No, it can be considered a hobby.

Does the person paying you claim the babysitting fee on their taxes? If they don't declare it, you should not have to pay taxes on it.

fiestyredhead
If this is what I earned for babysitting this year I certaining wouldn't tell Uncle Sam about it.

you always want to file because if it was taxed the irs now knows how much you made and you could get screwed in tax fraud
