Why would that be impossible? If you owed taxes, and you didn't have enough withheld to cover it, then you'd owe them now. If you made under $5350 for the year, you shouldn't owe anything. But if you made over that, you might, and if you claimed one allowance or more on your W-4 you almost surely will since they wouldn't have taken out enough. Check your W-4 and make sure it says single/zero allowances. |

It's not impossible if the business you worked for did not take out enough taxes from your paycheck. |

If you are earning money you have to pay taxes that is the law. |

This happens to people when they earn money and nothing is withheld for income tax. Make sure the company takes out for income tax and social security tax. |

if your parents claimed you and you makes more than $5500, then you probably DO owe taxes - being in highschool has nothing to do with it - it's how much you make |

No that is not impossible! Where in the tax code does it say that? Do you think child actors pay no taxes??? That is ridiculous! |

It's possible that you do owe the IRS money, if you made enough income during the year that you had a tax obligation, *and* if you didn't have enough withheld from your weekly paycheck to pay all those taxes.
We can't really comment, though, without knowing how much you made and how much was withheld from your paycheck during the year.
You act like you're just now finding out that you owe this money, but you say you filed your taxes in February. Didn't you look at your return when you filed it, and see the bottom line, where it told how much you owe? If you owe the IRS money, you're really *supposed* to pay it when you file your return. |
