Yes, it will go to her.

Yes, for the benefit of YOUR kids.

ninasgramma
It will go to the children who are in custody of the mother.

The advice from another answer about changing your W-4 applies only if you are married to the mother.

If you still have a legal requirement to pay her child support, even though you are now living together, you will still need to send in those payments.

Honeyluv
All of it is going to the mother...good for her! I am sure the child can benefit a great deal.

The good thing for you is that your "arrears" balance has decreased and you get to keep your license, possibly your job and will not have to be labeled as a dead beat dad!

itsmyitch
In Canada, each year the non-custodial parent must report his gross income from the previous year, to the custodial parent. The following year's child support is based on that amount. However, and this is what I don't think is fair, the custodial parent doesn't have to show where any of the money is being spent or on whom. It could very well be spent on drug, alcohol or gambling habits of the custodial parent. And don't get me started on a custodial parent who is addicted to tobacco.

It will go to her, but it might take awhile.

jdchick48
if it's owed to her, it will go to her. i wish men would take of their children. mothers have to do it, and make sacrifices that they shouldn't have to!

Yes. If you want to avoid that in the future, pay your child support when it is due! Your kids need it.

if you owe her cs, then, yes! be glad they are taking it now. depending what state you live in, if you were still behind when you renewed your license they wouldnt let you til you paid up! my mother in law just got a $10,000 settlement(he actually owed her $30,000) bc her ex went to refinance his house and they woudlnt let him unless he paid her. my husband is 26, his dad thought he had gotten out of it bc he was over 18. cs is taken very seriously(as it should be). if you dont pay up it will catch up to you!

It does go to the mother. Check with your employer about raising the number of exemptions on your W-4 to allow you to keep more money on a monthly basis. Make sure you meet with a tax specialist before you do this to make sure you don't claim too many. This could cause you to owe more at tax time in the form of penalties.
