I filed taxes for the first time this year & I just received a letter from the IRS. I'm freaking. Help?
The letter said the IRS had received my electronically filed income tax return for the Tax Year 2007, but they didn't receive my Form 8453-OL U.S Individual Income Tax Declaration for an IRS e-file Online Return, or the form received wasn't signed. I don't know how I was supposed to have signed it since I submitted the taxes online! Enclosed with the letter was the 8453-OL form, and I don't know how to fill it out and am feeling a bit overwhelmed.

The steps are:
1. Adjusted gross income (Form 1040, line 38; Form 1040A, line 22; Form 1040EZ, line 4)
2. Total tax (Form 1040, line 63; Form 1040A, line 37; Form 1040 EZ, line 10)
3. Federal income tax withheld (Form 1040, line 64; Form 1040A, line 38; Form 1040 EZ, line 7)
4. Refund (Form 1040, line 74a; Form 1040A, line 44a; Form 1040EZ, line 7)
5. Amount you owe (Form 1040, line 76; Form 1040A, line 46; Form 1040 EZ, line 12)

I filed my taxes online with HR Block and am unfamiliar with these forms. I'm freaking out because I've forgotten the pin number for my HR Block account and the email associated with it is no longer valid. I made a total of around $19,000 from three sources and also had dividends from stocks. My modeling agency took out the taxes on each paycheck and sent me that form (W something), but I also made a fair amount from selling paintings and music gigs, and the taxes were not withheld from my pay for those jobs. What I should I fill out on each line? I misplaced the W form; could I ask the agency to give me another one or do companies not do that?

Also:
I never received the stimulus tax check that everyone else got. I'm now assuming the reason is that I didn't fill out the forms correctly on HR Block. Is there a minimum income to be eligible for the stimulus check? Does your age matter? I was 15-16 for the 2007 tax year.

The letter says that I have to return the form within ten days, and I'm totally freaking out. I would greatly appreciate help. Thx in advance!
: )
Additional Details
I'm sorry this question is so long! I'd be very grateful if you could read it and advise. THX!

1. When you filed as a first timer, the IRS included some of this information in the email that acknowledged that they accepted the return. If you have lost that email, call 1-800-829-1040 and they can get the lines you need.

(You also need the temporary DCN for the upper left-hand corner.)

2. If you are 16, you are a dependent; dependents don't get a stimulus.

I am so happy that the form 8453-ol won't be around next year, but fearful that the stimulus will be.

To complete form 8453-OL, you need copy of your tax return for 2007. Till you submit 8453-OL, your return will not be considered as filed.

if you did this all with HR Block then you should go right back up there and show them the letter.. they should be able to explain everything to you and fix everything for you..

See if you can somehow get your pin number sent to you from the H&R website.

H&R Block can retrieve your tax return. Go to an office that is open. They can print out the return that you did online on the spot, or if they don't have the immediate capacity, they can do it in a day or so.

They may charge you a small fee for providing you with the return. After you get the return, just fill in the numbers on the Form 8453, sign, and mail it in.

Keep a copy of both the return and Form 8453 for your records.

Rather than write a 10 page answer to your question, you can get the answer immediately by calling 800-829-1040 IRS Help Line. They are wonderful and will walk you thru the page if you have all the tax info nearby. They helped me do every single line..

Ms. Angel..
Visit an H & R Block office immediately they should be able to assist you, you must hurry because without filing the Form 8453, means you have not filed at all. Did you not keep a copy of your 2007 return?
Always keep the copy and w2's in a file in case you need it in the future, If you do have a copy you will find all the info you need to complete the list you provided above.

John Scott
The consequence for not submitting that form is that you may not be able to e-file in the future. If you call the IRS, they can give you all the information you need to complete the form.

I'm not a taxman or a CPA so I won't pretend to be one. But maybe you erred because I was unaware that minors had to pay tax. I'm 23 and I never filed a return until I was 18 years old. I am unsure if H&R Block caused some problems but you have to keep all your tax records, from the IRS and from private companies such as H&R Block, incase you get audited or something like your situation happens.

If I was in your situation I would have gotten as much help from the parents, or applicable guardian/relatives as possible. If those people did help or try to help, it seems it hasn't done much good.

Best of luck!
