No, you can't hold it for next year. You MUST file an amended return using Form 1040X and pay any additional tax due by April 17, 2007 |

You need to complete an amended return form 1040X.
This needs to be mailed in, as the amended return can not be
e filed.

If you need assistance completing the form, call the IRS at

File an amended tax return with the IRS before the deadline. If you didn't report those earnings at all on the W2 you just received, or you did report the earnings on that W2 but the earnings you reported on your return were incorrect, use the W2 you just received to correct your tax return and file an amended return as soon as you can before the April deadline.
This sort of thing happens pretty frequently; people make errors on their tax returns all the time, so you can file an amended one and correct the error. |

File an amended return. You MUST do this to be legal. Also, wait a little longer to file your return in the future. The requirement is that companies have to send out the documents by the end of January. That does NOT mean that you will have the documents by Feb 1. |

You shouldn't have filed before you received your W2. I would just call an accountant, like HR Block and just ask if they can do it. They probably won't give you any advice over the phone, but they can tell you if it's possibile to alter your return based on this new piece of information. |
